What is Internet Time?

Internet time is the invention of the Swiss Swatch company. The day is divided into 1000 "internet minutes" which are called "beats." Instead of measuring the day in hours and minutes as we normally do, the day is just measured in these beats only. For example, the time might be @430 or it might be @976 and so on.

What is unique about internet time is that using this system, the time is the same time everywhere in the world. So for example you might have a friend in another country and you want to chat with them. You can say to them, "Lets chat at @500." and although you may be on Greenwich Mean Time and your friend may be on Australian Eastern Standard Time, you will both be chatting at the same internet time. In this way, websites can announce events to be at a certain internet time and everyone can work out when they need to log on using an Internet Time Converter which takes their local time at their location and changes it to Internet Time.
