| September 7, 2005: Where is God in Hurricane Katrina? - In the midst of such devastating events as Hurricane Katrina and the flooding of New Orleans many people sometimes wonder what God was doing when it happened. Is God to blame? The truth however is simple, God was in the same place He was when He watched His own Son die. God has not stopped caring for the people of New Orleans, in fact the proof of His love is that He did send His son to die. The blame for these terrible events lies actually at our own feet. The Bible says in Genesis that as a result of the sin of humans, that the world is under a curse. Because the world is cursed, earthquakes, floods, famines, drought, volcanoes, tsunamis and other natural disasters continue to occur. It's not God's fault that this happened because God always planned for the world to be a perfect place to live. God also made a way for us to escape the penalty of our sins. God has also prepared another perfect place for those who love Him in return. This place is called Heaven. If you would like to give you life to Christ and receive the opportunity of salvation, please read my article about repentance. |
| | September 5, 2005: Is Jesus God?: - The Bible says that Jesus is the "Son of God", but what exactly does that mean? The Bible also says that "Jesus is God." How can both of these be right? Find out here. |
| September 3, 2005: Visit to Sprinsure: - Springsure is a great place, its quiet and serene, but has a fascinating history. I visited for 2 days to catch up with a lady who was a part of our church congregation recently. She has volunteered to help us with our websites and so I needed to arrange it. I was also able to view the Virgin Rock and take a photo. This is a naturally occuring phenomenon very popular with Catholics because they can see the shape of a woman with a child n the rock. It is named Virgin Rock after the virgin Mary and Jesus her child. In the photo at right you can see the whole image (click to enlarge) and in the little one on the left you can see where I have outlined the shapes for you. During World War 2 the United States troops who were stationed at Springsure used the rock as target practice, so the clarity of the outline has deteriorated somewhat as a result. Springsure was also the site of a massacre of white settlers by aboriginals. (it was normally the other way around) and so Fort Rainworth was built to protect settlers. You can still visit the fort today. |
