| | August 29, 2005: Finally, Broadband is here: - Yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaa the telephone exchange in Mount Morgan is now enable for Broadband internet. I have put an application in for a broadband connection and that will take 15 days to process. I can't wait. Once the internet is here I can setup my own webcam in the church and also run a webserver for fun. The future has arrived. (except that now its the past).

| August 28, 2005: Visiting St Mary's - Bill's Farewell: - Reverend Bill Buckley and wife Gwladys have been the ministers at St Mary's Anglican in Mount Morgan for 7 years and have done a marvellous job over the time. I remember when they first came to town the congregation there was depleted with only a handful of folks. The Buckleys only came to town to retire (they were about 76 at the time) but soon poured themselves out with great energy into the church and saw a mini-revival in the fellowship. This Sunday was their last as they are now retiring for real and moving soon to Charters Towers in North Queensland. We moved our service to join in with them and to honour and bless these mighty people who have served God their whole lives.

| August 26, 2005: St George Illawarra are on top of the ladder: - Since 1985 (20 years) when I was given a footbal shirt of theirs I have been supporting the Dragons rugby league football team. Not once in all that time have they won a title, although they have been in 5 Grand Finals in that duration. Today however they hit the top of the ladder with only one week to go until finals, so this may be their best shot yet...........go St George.

| August 20, 2005: Something about Coke: - Many of us love a drink of Coke and I am certainly no exception. There is an interesting story I heard recently about Coke. I have this friend in Mount Morgan who has been a Christian for many years. About 30 years ago the pastor of his church in Clermont was on holidays and asked him to preach and his sermon was about..............you guessed it, it was about coke. He used the letters of coke to spell out the lesson for the day. Coke spells Christ Only Keeps Eternally. So everytime you are drinking a Coke remind yourself about Jesus and how he is able to keep you on in eternity as long as you have placed your trust in Him. |
| | August 20, 2005: What about all the Rules in the Bible? - The Bible is full of rules, I think most people would be aware of that. Most of these rules are in the Old Testament and are part of what we call "The Law." However the New Testament says that the Law is now obsolete and we are no longer obliged to follow it. Read the latest email to find out what the story is about our obligation to God. |
| August 20, 2005: Some Practice Exams: - I am learning the PHP scripting language and decided to do some online exams today to see how I'm going. Its a bit hard to know because its entirely a self motivated effort and I don't have anything to guage myself on. Anyway I tried one at www.hudzilla.org and only got 20 out of 40....not very good. Then I tried one at www.expertrating.com and did a little better, 23 out of 40. Obviously I have a lot more learning to do on this subject. The good point however was that when I passed the second test I became a Expert Rating Certified Professional (I had to pay for the exam) and am now qualified to show this logo. |
