June 27, 2005: Some time in Gladstone: - It's currently school holidays and so I thought I'd take my children away for a few days to Gladstone. It rained most of the time but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. The kids absolutely love the bunk beds and take turns sleeping on the top.

June 23, 2005: Computer Trouble - Blogging in Hindsight: - On this date my computer went down. Actually to be more specific I had to run the recovery cds to fix a minor problem, but the second cd was corrupt and left my computer without an operating system. It was 10 days before the new cds came in the mail. So the next 3 blogs in chronological order were actually blogged in hindsight. I don't know if you're allowed to do that (hindsight blogging) but I thought I would anyway.

June 21, 2005: Being a Family: - Jesus did not come to earth to start a big religious organization/s. He came to start a family and make us all friends with God. He didn't start a Bible College to train his disciples but did it through living together in normal life. Read about it here.

June 17, 2005: Australians With Bad Attitudes: - While at the show today I noticed a caravan with "Boycott Bali" on it. There seems to be an increasing bad attitudes towards indonesianegative attitude around Australia towards the people of Indonesia, ever since the Schapelle Corby case. I feel that it is wrong but there is nothing I can do about it so perhaps God will use this for some future plan of His or to bring His purposes about. However its not a good example and certainly not the way that believers should behave.

June 17, 2005: The Show Comes to Town: - The Carnival came to Rockhampton this week and I took the kids along and we had a blast. Its been maybe 8 rocky show from the airyears since I've been to the show and so it was nice to enjoy it again. The kids had a turn on the giant slide, the jumping castles, they had rides on trains, cars, horses and the ferris wheel. (and I went on that too). Here is a picture of some of the show from the top of the Ferris Wheel. We also ate those hot dogs on sticks.........heaven knows what they are called and saw the horses perform. We saw a model railroad, the cooking contest (kids not very interested) and the chickens and pigeons (kids very interested). my daughter riding a shetland ponyThere was also a man who did a snake show and had many venemous snakes. He had one particularly large python (pythons are not venemous) sitting just over his head on a pole and that certainly got the kids attention. Here is a picture of my daughter Bithiah (pronounced: Bith-ee-ar) having a horse ride.

June 12, 2005: Visit of Pastor Tom: - Pastor Tom Cox from Indiana, USA came to our church today in Mt Morgan. Who would have ever thought that we would get a speaker from that far away. He shared about the need for us cooperating with God's new move in the world today and then prophesied over us all. It was powerful.

June 11, 2005: The Apostolic Summit: - I attended all day today (Saturday) and have taken copious notes, but still feel overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of in between sessionsinformation. God is working in the earth in these days doing a new thing restoring apostles and prophets and changing christians to be like the early church. Its a huge subject........may I suggest you buy the tapes or cds from the conference. If you do want to, you'll have to talk to Michael at Peace International.......its your only hope of getting any inkling at all of what I'm talking about. Here is a picture of the summit in between sessions. We met in an old indoor cricket building which is now being used as a church facility.

June 10, 2005: The Apostolic Summit: - Yesterday was a pretty busy day and so I wasn't able to get on the internet, but the sons retreat down at the beach concluded in spectacular style and last night we started the Apostolic Summit conference. I really feel that I cannot possibly hope to explain to you what God is saying here and how clear and important and life changing it is. It would be a bit like trying to drink all the water in a bath tub in one go.......I just couldn't do it. Some of the particular themes that God has been revealing through the Apostles and Prophets that have shared so far have been very much concerned with our heart towards others. God is bringing back the heart of Fathers (apostles and other mature christians) back to the children and then the children can give their hearts to the fathers. As I sit and listen I have been constantly challenged to change things in my own heart which I can see have not been the right attitude. I can see that I have loved the people in my church but I have been too busy for them.......a bit like a father who has no spare time to spend with his kids. I can see that I'm spending a lot of time on the unimportant things but missing the most important thing. I have also been deeply challenged to never allow a word of accusation or criticism to ever leave my lips, even if what I say seems true because I don't know what God is doing in another's life and I may be inadvertently cursing them. The messages here have cut to the heart and they have not been merely the words of men, but truly the words of God. I can see that I have months of email content that I can write about now for a long time to come. I'll write some more tomorrow. Tomorrow I may get to play in the band here too which I am looking forward too.......I love to play music to God, its one of my gifts.

June 9, 2005: Chaplain to the Mount Morgan High School: - Today I had an appointment with the principal of the Mount Morgan High School, Ms Joy Ganter. She is a very soft hearted and encouraging woman who really does have a love for the kids in the school here and I can't ever remember meeting another principal with such a heart before. Diane Miltenburg arranged the meeting, and I have a lot of good things to say about Diane too, but I'll write about her in another blog. Anyway after our meeting I have been appointed to be the chaplain of the high school, starting next term. I've never done this kind of thing before and I'll admit to having a few nerves but it will be good for me and hopefully I can be a big blessing to the kids here and really be a listening ear, and a good role model for them. When I know a bit more about the nature of the job I'll write again and keep you posted.

June 8, 2005: Sons Retreat Day Two: - Rossly Bay InnAs I sit here writing looking out the window at the beautiful view of Keppel Bay, I can't help but feeling how wonderful God is. I wish I could show you.....perhaps tomorrow. Anyway, here is a picture I took earlier today of the beautiful Rosslyn Bay Inn. Its a lovely place to stay, and also reasonably priced, but in fact the best aspect of all is the beautiful thing that God is doing in our hearts here. We have been sharing our lives with one another and have come to see that the love growing between us is the best thing of all. In many churches the people are having a competition to see who is the best Christian or who knows the most, but when the competition is gone between believers, the real love and trust can begin. That's certainly where we are at the moment......its wonderful.

June 7, 2005: Robert the Helicopter Pilot: - I'm down at the Sons Retreat as I write and today I met Robert, a very interesting man who is an Indonesian Robert and Ihelicopter pilot. Robert runs a special missionary ministry where they helicopter into remote areas where villagers have no opportunity to hear about Jesus the normal way. Robert invited me to go to Indonesia next year to the Papua province to do a special helicopter mission with him. It does sound exciting, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to go yet, I need to pray about it. At left is my picture with Robert......an absolutely wonderful brother in Jesus and also a spiritual son who loves his spiritual Dad and serves him too. (by the way, his spiritual Dad was there too, a man from the Philippines called Felix) Here is a automatic translation of the helicopter mission website.

June 7, 2005: Time away with Dad: - sharing our lives with one anotherThis afternoon I went to Yeppoon with about 40 other believers for a "Sons Retreat." I'm actually on retreat now as I write this and we are having a very deep time with each other and with God. We are all spiritual sons (and daughters) of Apostle John Alley who is also my real Father and he is mentoring us in the things of God, in our faith and in loving one another and serving each other. Basically he is a bit like a tradesman and we are apprentices....kind of like Jesus and the disciples, except that most of us are already pastors and church leaders in our own right. However we all realize that we cannot be all that God wants us to be on our own and we need other people to watch over us and care for us. Even pastors need a pastor, except that in this case its even better....its a Dad. The Bible is full of this family kind of Christianity and now that we are starting to realize that this is the way God wants it to be, we are beginning to find much more happiness and fulfillment in what we do as we serve the Lord. Over the centuries, and especially recently, Christianity has been very structured and organized and run like a big company. It has been very administrative and a lot of the love and mercy is missing, but God is now helping us to see that as Apostles come back to Christianity, the way God want, that it will become much more family like. Its a good thing. So we are having a special "family retreat" together just for spiritual sons and our mentor.....our spiritual dad. We're having a great time and I'll write more soon. For more about what is a spiritual son, just click. For a more comprehensive article on this subject you can read my Dad's chapter entitled Fathers and Sonship from his latest book "The Apostolic Revelation"

June 4, 2005: How to Make Yourself Miserable in 1 Easy Step: - This is the subject of my latest email called "Throwing yourself in jail." Its all about the subject of forgiveness because when we are unable to forgive we are unwittingly making ourselves miserable. But when we forgive we are certainly letting the offender off the hook, but we are also letting go of our misery too. Its by far the best thing for us to do because not only does God ask us to do it, but we will be happier for obeying. So if you want to be miserable, one perfectly good way of doing it is to hang onto your hurts and not forgive those who have hurt you.

June 3, 2005: Broadband only 3 weeks away: - Heard great news that our little town will get Broadband by the end of the month. We are all thrilled to bits to hear of it. Bring it on.

June 2, 2005: Shirley's Birthday Party: - A family friend Shirley had her birthday yesterday. It was a great time and we were able to go along. I'm not normally one for karaoke/sing along sort of stuff but I was able to sing "What a wonderful world" as made popular by Louis Armstrong. I even used a gravelly voice but the side effect was a sore throat. A fun time was had all in all.
