Dear Friends

How are you? Its been a hectic week. I had a sick daughter for a day
and a half, and then I thought my son had caught it off her, but he
hadn't. Thank God for answered prayer. It can be hard to feel heavenly
or close to God when you are in the middle of some very down to earth
happenings. When your daughter throws up on your chest, you don't always
feel "at one with God." if you know what I mean.

But despite all of that, God is still here. He has promised never to
leave us nor forsake us. Even in the darkest times of our lives, we can
learn to trust God because He is always there. Sometimes when we go
through weeks, months or even years of feeling like we can't get close to
God, or as if we are in a desert........that can be the making of us.
The Catholics call this experience the "dark night of the soul." When
a! ll seems to be lost and we can't find God anywhere, but we stick with it
all the same..........somehow we emerge a different person.

And the strange thing is.........sometimes God does that to us. So even
if you are facing a tough time...keep trusting. No matter if it is just
bad luck, or the dark night of the soul, God is with you in it.

As I was reading my Bible recently, I came across and interesting verse.
You can find it in Psalms 51:16-17. Psalms 51 is the "oh dear I stuffed
up" psalm. If you have ever heard the story of King David and Bathsheba
and how they had an affair (2 Samuel 11 & 12) an then how King David
repented before God, well, this psalm is the prayer King David prayed
when He was repenting.

Verses 16 & 17 say "For you do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give
it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a
broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart - These, O God, you will not
despise."

Did you get the meaning? What God is looking for when we sin is not for
us to try to make it up to Him, but to be humble and repentant. When He
sees our hearts are genuine, He is delighted and restores us.

I hope you are having a God time where you are, and that the peace of God
will be for you too. Keep you eyes on Jesus at all times. And remember,
when you face a time in a spiritual desert, or the dark night of the soul,
stick in there........you will emerge a winner.

Cheers in Christ
David
