My testimony is actually very simple, and I was only 4 at the time.
My parents were missionaries in Papua New Guinea with the Salvation Army and my brother and I used to attend a Sunday School before church each Sunday. One morning the teacher had a picture of a heart with a door on it. She showed it to us and said that we needed to open our hearts and let Jesus come inside.
It was only the next day whilst playing in the front yard that I asked Jesus to come inside my heart. I had been thinking (as children do) for a while and simply prayed and asked "Jesus can you come inside my heart." With child like faith I believed my prayer was being heard.
As I uttered my prayer and incredible change came over me and I knew God had heard me and that Jesus was in my heart too. I felt very happy and I have a very clear recollection of that moment to this very day....24 years later.
Not only did Jesus come into my heart that day, but He has dwelt with me ever since guiding me through many moments both good and bad. No matter what I have faced I have had Him there to help me. He has answered many of my prayers and I have many other amazing stories of his invovlement with me.
For me however the biggest blessing is not the happiness or wonder of this life, but the thankfulness of knowing I am saved in eternity. When my time comes to depart this life, I am certain I will go to be with Him. That is the most wonderful thing of all.
Finally I need to point out, that as we walk in this life of faith with Jesus, its not only asking Him to come and help and bless us, but it is also about us giving our lives back to Him and living for Him. We must also be a blessing and give to Him. We can't be a taker but not be a giver. As we learn to serve God that also blesses us immensely. |
