Today the government decided not to extend special drought relief to farmers, and over 18,000 farmers have now missed out on what would have been a help even if only a small one. Read the full article here. If we are looking to our fellow human beings for help, or to the government then there will come a time when we will be dissapointed, and it seems today is one of these times. Instead of placing our hopes in something that may fail us, we must place our hopes in something that is more certain. Let me encourage you instead to place your trust in a God who is able to meet your needs as He has done many times for me, my family and my town. In 2000 when the town of Mt Morgan was in such a desperate position God heard the prayers of its people. In the same way you must cast yourself on God not only for your physical needs but for the spiritual needs you have also, whether you are aware of them or not. |
