The first thing you must do is to examine your motives for wanting to start a house church. If it is because God is leading you then go for it. If it is because you live in a remote area, or there is no church where you meet, or you wish to be a blessing to the saints then do it wholeheartedly. Sometimes however people start house churches with less than sincere reasons, and you must definitely try to keep false motives from your heart. Keep your heart pure before the Lord otherwise you will not be successful. Pride always comes before a fall.

For example, sometimes people start a house church because they are offended at other believers and no longer want to meet with them. Or sometimes people develop a case of spiritual pride and think they "only they" have the truth and so go off to start their own brand of Christianity. There are many false motives and bad attitudes which lead believers to isolate themselves and start their own church. Before you being, make sure you have a good relationship with the pastor or believers you were previously with, and get their blessing. Be accountable and have a pure and sincere heart of love. Do what is right and be honest and open.

If your heart is sincere and you are truly led of the Lord, then you will have success and will bring a lot of blessing to many lives, including your own.
