For the benefit of those readers who are Muslim, let me share some things
about faith, confession and the teachings of Jesus.(Isa)
Muslim people have come to believe that if their good deeds
outweigh their bad deeds we will be able to enter (paradise), but this is not
what Jesus taught. Good Muslim people seek to love Allah and obey Him, by keeping the 5 pillars of
Islam, but Jesus taught that although these things may be good in
their own way, something else is required.
Instead of Shahada or Kalima, a different sort of confession and
faith are required. Let me show you some examples of this from the holy
Injil.
The first example is of the Prophet John who was baptising in
the desert. It was at this time that John was teaching the people that
they must turn from their sins and start to follow God. He said in
Matthew 3:8-9 "Prove by the way you live that you have
really turned from your sins and turned to God. Don't just says 'We're
safe, we're the descendants of Abraham.' That proves nothing."
So John the Baptist taught people to live properly and not to depend on their
ancestry to save them. Then Jesus came to the water one day while John was
baptising and this is what John said about Jesus
"Look! There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!. He
is the one I was talking about when I said, 'Soon a man is coming who is far
greater than I am, for he existed long before I did'." John 1:29-30
What an unusual thing for the Prophet John to say.
First He proclaimed Jesus to be the "Lamb of God who removes our sins," and
secondly, even though John the Baptist was born first, He declared that Jesus
"existed long before I did." The prophet John recognised Jesus as being
God come down in the form of a human and proclaimed it to be so. So this
was the Shahada of John the prophet. After this the preaching of John the
prophet was finished. Jesus began to preach from this time on.
After the preaching of Jesus began, He preached at a little
village on the West Bank of the Jordan in an area called Samaria. After
his preaching the people proclaimed "Now we believe
because we have heard ourselves. He is indeed the Saviour of the World"
John 4:42 So for these villagers in Samaria, they too found
Shahada and Iman in Jesus.
Although there are a number of other examples, I will share one more from the
death of Jesus. As Jesus hung on the cross dying for crimes He did
not commit and for sins that were not His, a Roman soldier stood nearby.
The holy Injil records the event in Mark 15:37-39 "Then
Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed His last. And the curtain in
the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. When the Roman officer who
stood facing Him saw how He had died, He exclaimed, 'Truly, this was the Son of
God!' " For this soldier, this was his Shahada. Three
days later the holy Injil records the miraculous resurrection of Jesus back from
the dead. We praise God that He conquered death and sin so that our sins
might be defeated and so we might live with Him.
Then in Romans 10:9-10 the
Holy Injil says "If you confess with your mouth that
Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are
made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are
saved." So the teachings of the Holy Injil are that we need
to find a new Shahada and to place our faith in Jesus. Jesus is the
Saviour of the world - He is able to forgive us our sins if through our faith
and confession we place our trust in Him.
Many Muslims work hard to convince God they are good so they can
go to paradise, but the Holy Injil teaches us that this will not work. It is
not our hard efforts that earn merit with God, even our best effort will never
reach perfection. Instead, our salvation comes because we have learnt to
trust in Jesus, the Saviour who saves us from our sins and eternal punishment. Instead of being fearful all
the time wondering whether you are good enough for God, you can cease from your
concerns and place your life in the hands of Jesus the Saviour and find
certainty with Him.
If you would like to place your life into the hands of Jesus the
Saviour today, here is a prayer you may pray to do so. You do not need to
be in a mosque or church or anywhere religious. Jesus is not so worried about
the buildings, what He really cares about is your heart. He wants to draw
near to you today, and as you seek Him, He will.
"Jesus, I believe you are the Saviour
of the World and I want to make confession in my heart today. I lay down
the sins of my life before you. You know every sin that I have committed, they
are not secret. Thank you for your death on the cross for my sins. According to your mercy, please remove these sins and
grant me the certainty of salvation. I place my life into your hands
today, to love you and serve you. My shahada is for you Lord Jesus.
Please take my life and guide me in your true path."
If you have prayed this prayer as an expression of your heart,
then I would like to send you more information about the teachings of Jesus.
I would also like to email you part of the Holy Injil to read. I will
also pray for you that God will give grace to you to walk in the teachings of
Jesus. If you would like this information, please leave me your
