Yesterday I went to Aramac with Sue and Mike and we visited some of the believers there..........they were wonderful people in every sense of the word. Aramac is a rural town of several hundred people just north of Barcaldine. Recently the Uniting Church in Aramac closed its doors because it was not financial enough to continue. I was quite saddened when I heard this news and it has been in my thoughts ever since. It seems that like every other "profession" (like doctors, builders, labourers) everyone wants to be in the big smoke, but no-one cares for these out of the way places. Jesus himself was born in a town called Nazareth which in his day was an out of the way place. We went just to have a look, and would dearly love to do something there, but must pray and think this matter through. |
