| It can be easy being Australian to take things
for granted.....we live in the best country in the world. But sin is
still real, death is still real and eternity is real. Heaven and Hell
are real places and God requires us to live accountable lives. So, I
have some good news and some bad news, let me share with you the bad news
first. Australia is a country that has
turned its back on God. We like the beach, our leisure, our TV's and
being our own people. We swear and curse, drink beer and are proud of
it, but the happiness we know is actually a smoke-shield hiding the truth about
eternity...a place we must all eventually face. The Bible is very clear
that sin separates us from God and the end result is our eternal punishment.
The wages of sin are death in eternity, but we Aussies don't even really know
what sin is anymore. Simply put, sin is living to please ourselves with
no regard for God.
Despite all the fun we have we don't really
have peace within deep down. If we stopped to really think about it
all...what is the purpose of our lives anyway? That is definitely a hard
question to answer truthfully. If we don't consider God's ways we doom
ourselves even if we are nice people. The bible tells us that many nice
people go to hell, and some horrible sinners who turned to God are in Heaven.
Now let me share the good news about the
forgiveness of sins and the hope of eternal life offered to us all through
Jesus. The bible tells us that Jesus was God Himself who became a real
person so that He could redeem us from our sins. He lived a perfect life
(which we couldn't possibly do) and died a death that we deserved to die.
Then He went to Hell in our place but miraculously raised Himself back to life
again 3 days later. Because He never sinned, but died in our place and
took Hell in our place and lived a perfect life in our place.....Jesus offers
His life and sacrifice as a stand in for us to pay for our short-fallings.
We can have forgiveness of sins, eternal life, peace with God all by only
asking...because Jesus offers it to us as a free gift. Let me lead in a
prayer to receive this free gift from God.
Dear Heavenly Father, I
realise my life is full of shortcomings and I cannot measure up, but I come
and ask that because of Jesus I would be make clean. Please forgive me,
give me peace with God, give me eternal life and make me into a new person by
your power. Do this work in me now I pray. Amen
If you sincerely prayed that prayer, please
send your details so we can help you know more about Jesus and pray for you
too. He cares and loves you, that is why He has offered you these free
gifts. We respect your privacy and will treat your details honourably.
