Dear Friends,
My computer has been spending some time in the hospital for computers........I think you know what I mean. It was good to finally get back online after nearly 2 weeks twiddling my thumbs. In the meanwhile hundreds of emails stacked up.........I think everyone in the universe tried to send me an email.........just joking. Sometimes you never realise how much spam you actually get until you get a fortnights worth all in one go.
Anyway, its great to be writing again. I want to take just a few paragraphs and talk about faith. Do you remember the story about how Jesus cursed a fig tree, you can find it in Mark 11:12-14 and Mark 11:20-24. Anyway to cut a long story short.......Jesus was hungry and couldn't find any fruit on the fig tree so he cursed it. (In doing so he was performing a symbolic act against the Children of Israel who also had not produced fruit). The very next day when they walked past the tree was dead.......well and truly cursed.
The disciples were amazed........as we would have been too and said "Look teacher, the tree you cursed has withered." Jesus replied "Have faith in God" and also said "I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." I want you to realise that your prayers are powerful.....just the same as Jesus' or mine or anyone else who loves God. Do not doubt but believe because your prayers will be heard.
About 18 months ago I was sitting on the verandah of my home looking at my very own fig tree. This tree was a nuisance because its roots were going under my home and cracking the concrete posts. It was basically a threat to my home. (The inside of my home has been renovated, but the outside needs a lot of work) It was then that I remembered this story about Jesus and so I decided to curse my own fig tree too. Well, the results were not blinding or instant, but its now been 18 months and the tree is well and truly dead as you can see from the picture. It just goes to show that there really is a lot of power in our words.
Each of us have needs or struggles and if we will pray about them and use the little faith we have, we will definitely have answers to our prayers. Also, our faith will grow and become stronger. Jesus said that "If we have faith the size of a mustard seed........nothing will be impossible for us."
How big is a mustard seed..........not very big actually. So to see your prayers answered, how much faith do you need? Not very much at all. The only requisite is to use the little faith you have, to be persistant and you will overcome the obstacles in your life that are holding you back.
Do not doubt............ask God today to help you in your life. Seek Him and have a breakthrough.
The Lord bless you Cheers David |
