| Dear Friends,
This week has been pretty busy, but also very rewarding. A few christian friends and I have been working on a rock retaining wall at the church building here in Mt Morgan. We have finished one side off and I must say that I am quite proud of how it looks. This Saturday we are also having a big church dinner here and loads of people (lots for us anyway) are coming. Its going to be a good occasion and a chance for some of our unchristian friends to come a little closer to God.
Anyway I wanted to briefly explain what it means to belong to Jesus. Have you ever heard of the expression 'the Body of Christ?' This expression actually refers to 2 things........first it refers to the actual body that Jesus had when He was physically here walking the earth 2000 years ago. However, it mainly is an expression which we use when we refer to all the believers in the whole world..........its us....we are the Body of Christ.
So if we belong to Jesus, and we are a part of His Body.........then we actually belong to each other. We belong to the christians in the other churches in our town or city, and also the other christians in other countries around the world.........and of course they belong to us. In other words, if we are genuine in wanting to belong to Jesus, then we must learn to belong and value our brothers and sisters in the faith.
You may recall the very first email I sent (a long time ago for some of
you) which said not to worry so much about rules and regulations but to focus on loving Jesus and loving your fellow believers. This at its basic level is exactly what it means to belong to Jesus.
So my encouragement to you is not to be cut off or separated from your brothers or sisters around you. One of the most important things for your faith is to fellowship (spend time) with them.....and this is what will make you strong, and make you belong.
Wish you were here
Take care
David
