Dearest Friends
Its great to be home again after a trip to Thailand. I attended a special conference in Pattaya which is a seaside city there. Along with about 1700 other people we split into groups to discuss issues to do with how we can best share the good news of Jesus with people. I was in the group for media and technology and it was really neat to be able to meet with other poeople who are internet buffs as well as me. You can read more about the conference at the Lausanne website... http://www.lausanne.org
If youd like to see a couple of photos, youll have to copy and paste the following links into your browser window. The first is me standing near a shrine of some sort....the thai people have these shrines everywhere. Its not Jesus they are worshipping which is sad, but my prayer is that the gospel will really make a difference for Thailand. The second photo is interesting...its an outdoor restaurant with live food.....you select it from a fish tank and they kill and cook it on location. You can notice the menu right above the fish tanks where you can select how you would like it cooked.

I want to thank you for your prayers while I was there and your encouragements. You really are a great blessing to me, especially knowing your support and thoughts are with me. I was really blessed and also challenged while I was away.
Australia is actually a very lucky country (or is that blessed) because we live well and there is little poverty or need. However in asia and many parts of the world people are not as well off as they are in the western countries like Australia and the USA. While in Thailand it was pretty obvious that people suffering from poverty, AIDS, prostitution and other horrific things. It was not easy to see beggars asking for money or people with no arms living on the streets. Helping one of them or a few of them doesn\'t seem to make a difference. That was a fairly sobering part of my trip.
So I want to thank you for your thoughts and prayers, but I also want you to think deeply about the poor people of the world. There may not be many in the part where you live, but that doesn\'t mean we shouldn\'t be willing to help them. In the Bible we are constantly reminded that God loves the poor, the widows, the orphans and the lame, and we should love them too because we are his disciples and followers.
In coming emails I hope to keep sharing about prayer, and then to start talking a bit about the questions of origins........about how the world was made and how all the animals fitted into the ark and so on.
May all the best blessings be yours
Cheers
David
