Dear Friends,
How are you today? Just thought I'd say Hi and see what's been happening. We haven't had any more rain this week and so the grass has stopped growing quite as fast. After spending 4 hours mowing last week you'd think that there'd be something to show for it 7 days later, not so. Al though the grass is not waist high like it was before, it has quite quickly reached knee high in only a week. I decided not to bother mowing this week because otherwise that would be all I would do with my spare time. I think next weekend I'll hit it again.
Tell you what, the way the world is going it must be nearing the return of Jesus. In Matthew 24 Jesus tells about all the kinds of things that will occur before the end of the world. If you thought that this was a perfect description of what is happening now you wouldn't be wrong. Wars and rumours of wars are certainly in abundance. We have 1500 of our own Aussie soldiers gone off the Iraq (that's a third of our military). Even if they don't end up fighting (and we'd rather a peaceful solution anyday) its still very much like the passage of Matt 24.
The reason I thought I'd mention it is because there seem to be hoardes of people the world over desperate for peace. They actually disturb the peace with great big rallies in the aim to prevent war. It is my firm conviction that true peace only comes from knowing Jesus, after all the Bible calls him the Prince of Peace.
The world can be going through huge chaos that Jesus predicted (and it is) and people are anxious and concerned, but as believers we can have peace in our own hearts in the midst of it all. We have God's promises and his constant friendship with us all the time.
Here's a few scriptures to check out if you have the time:
Isaiah 9:6-7
Isaiah 26:3
John 14:27
The Bible says that the Peace of God passes our understanding. What that really means is that we can be at perfect peace within and there is no logical explanation why. The world is at war, but in our hearts we have peace.
For me that's the biggest blessing of all, (other than eternal life) and I don't think I could survive in this life without that peace and friendship that comes from Jesus.
Praise the Lord for that.
God Bless You
David
