Dear Friends,
What a crazy week! So much stuff happened. We got a little rain yesterday but not enough to make a difference for our farmers, but also not enough to make the grass grown any faster. (praise God for that) In the meanwhile I have given up watching the war because it seems to get you down. I found this week that reading my bible did a whole lot more for me than the news. (which of course it always does)
Our church in Mt Morgan is reading through the bible in one year. This year we are reading from the New King James Version and we change versions every year. A few days ago I was reading in Joshua about the cities of refuge in Israel . If someone killed someone accidentally they could run to a city of refuge and be safe, but if they didn't the relatives of the dead had a right to retaliate. Its fairly interesting. If you'd like to read it for yourself its in Joshua 20. In verse 7 it listed the names of these cities and the first city was called Kadesh. That struck me as strangely significant because Kadesh in the Hebrew language means "to be set apart for God."
As I read this passage I realised that if we set our lives apart for God to live for Him, then He becomes a city of refuge for us and we are safe from the attacks of the evil one. It was a great revelation. I also wondered what the names of the other cities might mean, but I haven't had a chance to look them up in a Hebrew dictionary yet.
I thought you might be interested in that. If you have any thoughts let me know.
One of these days I'm going to try to list a whole pile of God's promises on one page and send them out to everyone, but there's so much to do just at the moment. In any case I hope things are Ok with you, and that this mail finds you well.
Also, Mahesh from India just this week suggested we setup a yahoo group for everyone in my contacts folder (about 350 now) which I thought was a great idea. Give me a couple of weeks and you will all be able to email each other, chat etc.
Must go, Don't forget the Lord in the everyday things you do.
Praise God for life within
Cheers
